A conventional girth wraps around the horse's barrel in a fixed and largely static way. Whilst it holds the saddle securely in place, it simultaneously applies pressure to the ribcage, the sternum, and the soft tissue behind the elbow — restricting the natural expansion of the ribcage during breathing and limiting freedom of movement through the shoulder and the thoracic sling.
